Revealing Ice Cream Social October 6, 2009 With our busy lifestyles, many of us are distracted while eating. Food science researchers have shown that weight gain may sneak up on us if we aren't mindful of our portion sizes. According to a collaborative study between Cornell University, Georgia Tech College of Management, and Eastern Illinois University, people seem to eat more when using larger plates and utensils than when offered smaller dinnerware. Researchers organized an ice cream social and invited 85 nutrition experts who were not aware that they were the study participants. Their behavior was observed and reported in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
